Tuesday Music & Creative Arts

The El Cajon Corps has a lot going on, especially in music programs for youth. Kids will be able to choose from a variety of electives when you enroll them in our music program. Take a look at some of what we provide and see what may fit for you! We welcome you to join our church and our community arts programs.

| OPEN PLAY/ART (4:00pm-4:45pm) |

Arts & Crafts - Come explore and produce art of your own using a variety of mediums and techniques! 

Open Play - Enjoy free play in our imaginative play area or state of the art gymnasium. The perfect way to get reenergized after a day at school!

| DINNER (4:45pm-5:15pm) |

Free dinner is provided for all Youth Program participants. 

| ELECTIVES (5:15pm-5:50pm) |

Sparklers - A class designed especially for Pre-K and Kindergarten students to develop a love of music and movement! Time is taken to introduce music skills such as rhythm, tone, instruments of the orchestra and dynamics. Our youngest participants love learning through singing, dance, play, crafts and hands on activities. Ages 4-6

Beginning Music - There is so much to learn in the world of music! In this class, new musicians will explore different instruments and music skills through games, crafts, and hands on experience. After learning the fundamentals of musicianship, they can go on to one of our more advanced classes. Ages 6-9

Brass - The Salvation Army has a long tradition of brass bands. We strongly encourage you to come and try out a brass instrument. Ages 9 & up

Timbrels/Devotion in Motion - Learn new ways to express yourself through this combination of music, percussion and dance. Ages 7 & up!

Ukulele - Learn how to play the ukulele, with a focus on reading charts, technique and performance. 

Creative Arts - Tap into your artistic side learning about a new artist or medium each week, culminates with an Art Show at the end of the session. Ages 7 & Up

YOUTH CHOIR (5:50pm-6:20pm)

After electives, all youth come together for our Youth Choir, 'Singing Company'.  They continue to learn important musical skills as well as experiencing the joy of choral singing. Opportunity to perform songs at Sunday morning church services, singing competitions and special events are highlights of Singing Company.
